M06 - Backend Engineer

Responsibilities Design and develop scalable, maintainable, and secure backend services, APIs, and integration components. Design and implement scalable microservices and distributed systems. Integrate with upstream and downstream systems, devices, and data sources. Manage and optimise relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, query optimisation, and data integrity. Develop data processing, transformation, and analytics services. Implement application monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities. Troubleshoot application and integration issues to ensure reliability and performance. Work closely with frontend engineers, data teams, and business stakeholders to deliver technical solutions. Implement authentication, authorisation, and security best practices. Support testing, deployment, and production operations. Write clean, well-documented, and testable code and participate in peer reviews. Maintain technical documentation and system design artefacts. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Support knowledge sharing across the project team.
